DUSTIN GUILBEAU | MEMBER OF THE MONTH JUNE 2022

INSPIRATION

With hard work and the right mindset, Dustin went from 225lbs. in February 2021 to 185lbs. in April 2022.

The reason I show up to the gym is because I care about my quality of life. I want to make sure that even with a congenital amputation that I will always be able to perform task outside of the gym to the best of my abilities. Being active in the gym aids in that. I also see other adaptive athletes partake in CrossFit and that gives me the confidence to know that these tasks can be done. Those that I have around me in the gym have been my biggest inspiration. Yes, they inspire me to show up and put in the work at the gym, but they also inspire me to be great outside of the gym. They lead by example and it’s the unspoken things that drive me to be a better version of myself every day.

GOAL

I want to continue to put my nutrition first and show up consistently to the gym. I have really enjoyed adding some running into my weekly training and plan to train for longer distance runs. As someone with a congenital amputation my current focus for CrossFit training is to incorporate accessory work to built up the strength of my right arm where I am missing my right hand and forearm. Along with this accessory work I am looking forward to working on incorporating my right arm in overhead barbell and pull-up rig movements. Long term goal is to be able to perform all CrossFit movements as close to prescribed as possible.

ADVICE

Best advice I could give to anyone looking to live a healthy and fulfilled life is that in whatever you choose to do remember to be consistent, intentional, and present. Consistently showing up to the gym and eating healthy will help you to reach your fitness goals. Live your life intentionally but not for glorification of yourself or others. Be present and enjoy the process whether that is working towards your fitness goals or navigating new plans that may be incorporated in your workplace. Putting your health first will result in building better relationships with others and will take your confidence levels to new heights!

WHY RAGIN FITNESS CO?

I love the CrossFit classes and open gym hours that Ragin Fitness Co offers. I’m known to make frequent trips to the front desk for the snacks and drinks while cooking my breakfast in the lounge. It has literally become my second home. Ragin Fitness Co is the most welcoming place I have ever walked into. The culture that has been created amongst the current staff is amazing. They really do go above and beyond to help their members reach their goals. The friendships I have created with the coaches and members I will always be thankful for. We show up, we work hard, and we make each other better. Conversations post workout are my favorite because they are often real meaningful conversations and not always just simple gym talk. Ragin Fitness Co is unlike any other place. It is a special and unique place and I’m so happy I get to be a part of it.
